VacuMag Separator

EXPORTech has developed the VacuMag™ separator (US 7,681,736) and has applied it to producing a variety of products from fly ash. These include magnetite for use in heavy media coal cleaning circuits, low Loss-on-Ignition (LOI) fractions for use in Portland cement, and low density fractions for use in the production of light weight aggregate and blocks.
The VacuMag is a dry fine-particle separator which has also been tested for recovery of magnetite from Magnetic Pulverized Activated Carbon (MPAC) used for separation of mercury from coal combustion off-gases.
The beta prototype separator shown in the photo operates at feed rates up to 3300 lb/hr. Thirteen fly ashes from several power plants burning a broad range of coals were processed during beta prototype testing.
